At 22-momme, our silk hits the sweet spot: heavy enough to deliver real benefits — moisture retention, reduced friction, temperature regulation — yet still beautifully fluid against your skin. Most entry-level silk products use 16–19 momme. We chose 22-momme because it's the grade where silk truly performs, night after night.

Mulberry silk is produced by silkworms fed exclusively on mulberry leaves, resulting in longer, more uniform fibres and a smoother, more lustrous finish than other silk types. We do not use charmeuse blends, polyester-silk mixes, or lower-grade alternatives.

Silk is a protein-based fibre — structurally similar to human skin and hair. This creates far less friction as you sleep, reducing hair breakage, split ends, and the creases you wake up with after sleeping on cotton.

Yes. Our silk is OEKO-TEX certified — independently tested and confirmed free from harmful substances, safe for direct skin contact including sensitive skin. Hand washing is always the first choice:

1. Fill a basin with cool or lukewarm water — never hot. Heat damages silk fibres.
2. Add a small amount of gentle silk-specific detergent or mild baby shampoo.
3. Submerge and gently agitate by hand for 2–3 minutes. Do not scrub or wring.
4. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until it runs clear.
5. Gently press — never wring — out excess water, then lay flat on a towel to dry away from sunlight.

Machine washing: If needed, use a mesh laundry bag, cold water, and the most delicate cycle available with a silk-safe detergent. Avoid fabric softeners — they coat silk fibres and reduce their natural benefits over time.

Always wash before first use to remove any residue from packaging and transport.

No to tumble drying. Heat is silk's primary enemy — never use a dryer. Always air dry flat, away from direct heat or sunlight.

For wrinkles: Use a cool iron only, with a thin pressing cloth between the iron and the silk. Alternatively, hang your silk in a steamy bathroom for a few minutes — steam naturally releases creases without direct heat.

We recommend washing every 1–2 weeks, in line with your regular pillowcase routine. If you use heavy night creams or facial oils, washing weekly will maintain both the silk and your skincare results. The cleaner your pillowcase, the more effectively the silk can work for you.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid plastic bags — silk needs to breathe. A cotton or linen dust bag is ideal, like the one your item arrives in. Keep away from perfumes and harsh chemicals, as prolonged exposure weakens silk fibres over time.

Our pillowcase fits standard and queen-size pillows (approximately 50 × 75 cm / 20 × 30 inches), with an envelope closure at the back to keep your pillow secure through the night. We accept returns within 30 days of delivery, provided the item is unused, unwashed, and in its original packaging with tags attached. Due to the intimate nature of silk products, we cannot accept returns on items that have been worn, slept on, or washed.

Email contact@homenestart.com with your order number and reason for return. We'll provide a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and the correct return address. Please do not send items back without an RMA — returns sent without prior authorisation cannot be processed.

For change-of-mind returns (wrong colour, changed your mind), return shipping is the customer's responsibility. If your item arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect, we will cover all return shipping costs in full.
